Commissioned as part of the Polar Sounds project: a collaboration between Cities and Memory, the Helmholtz Institute for Functional Marine Biodiversity (HIFMB) and the Alfred Wegener Institute, Helmholtz Centre for Polar and Marine Research (AWI).
UNEARTHED (2022) - 8 MINUTES
Composed using field recordings taken in Dead Island Bog.
Moving from air recordings above ground to progressively further below ground via hydrophones (underwater microphones), the piece immerses the listener within layers of peat, unearthing previously inaudible sound worlds.
